The Yalumba Y Series of varietal wines express the lively personality and colourful 150-year history of the Hill Smith family of Yalumba, Australia's oldest family owned winery. These are fresh and flavoursome fruit-driven wine styles of quality and consistency, highlighting the true regional character of South Australia's most renowned viticultural areas and confirming Yalumba's reputation as Australia's finest independent winemaker.

The wine is deep and dense cherry red in colour with a nose of brooding Cabernet fruit, berries and plum, with toasty oak. The palate is of vibrant, sweet berry fruit finishing with a firm tannin structure.

The Yalumba Merlot made by Yalumba's Red Winemaker Kevin Glastonbury shows classic Merlot varietal character-soft and supple with delightful aromas of sweet berry fruits, rose petals and spice. Ripe sweet plums on the palate together with gentle tannins leads to a lovely soft finish.

Pinot Grigio is a relative newcomer to Australian wine, but it is growing fast in popularity. Even though the berries are a pinkish copper colour, the wines made from Pinot Grigio are usually white, rich and full bodied.

Sangiovese Rosé 2010

With a fine ruby colour, this wine has exotic aromas of raspberries, strawberries and cream and notes of lilac and violets - all with a minerally edge.

The mouth feel is succulent, with strawberry, rhubarb and cinnamon flavours. It opens to a fine dense body of wine with a soft texture that is long and beautifully balanced.

Yalumba Y Series Sauvignon Blanc is fresh, zesty and deliciously intense with flavours of passionfruit and a hint of grassiness.

Characterised by aromas of intense passionfruit, mown grass and a touch of fragrant spice, this Sauvignon Blanc is a delicious expression of the variety. The palate offers layers of flavours - lemons and tropical fruit and fresh cut herbs - with textures that are succulent and long. It finishes with lingering and refreshing natural acidity.

Yalumba Y Series Shiraz is an elegant, classic Shiraz offering a vibrant berry nose, with hints of licorice, spices and delicious mocha chocolate. The palate is complex displaying yummy fruit flavours of berries and plums, with good depth, balanced by fine tannins.

Yalumba Y Series Shiraz Viognier is bright and youthful. The nose is full of spices, licorice and plum fruits with subtle hints of Viognier emphasised by soft jam of fresh purple grape aromas.

The palate is supple, chewy and delicious with sweet vinour fruits and loose-knit tannins. A spicy, savoury and silky wine with a lingering finish.

Yalumba Y Series Viognier is a pale gold with green hues. The aroma offers intense white flowers and honeysuckle, with hints of apricot nectar. The palate is rich and very long and ripe, with citrus and tropical fruit flavours.
